The word “Marble” originates from “marble,” which comes from the Latin”marmar,” which is the Latin word for “Marmar,” which in turn is derived from the Greek word “Marmarous,” which means shining stone. It is a metamorphic stone that results from the recrystallization of limestone that is softened by pressure and heat. The primary constituents are dolomite and calcium.
The hardness ranges from 2.5 up to five on the MOH scale. It’s typically heavily veined and has lots of grains.
